About The Position

This position will help manage Mohave County Library's digital presence, including its website, social media, and online media resources, while supporting traditional media and information literacy.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Computer Engineering, or related discipline.
  • Four (4) years of consecutive computer operations, which includes configuration, maintenance of microcomputers, related peripheral networks.
  • One (1) year of experience in training, troubleshooting, and providing technical support to systems users.
  • One (1) year of experience in website design in a professional setting.
  • OR any equivalent combination of education, experience, and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities will be considered in meeting the minimum qualifications.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in computers or a related field.
  • A+ Certification, Linux+ certification or other related industry-recognized technical certifications. (CompTIA).
  • Two years (2) technical support in a library or other public/educational setting.
  • Demonstrated skill and experience in graphic design and video production in an educational setting.

Responsibilities

  • Selects, develops, deploys, and administers various library websites, social media, and digital content platforms, and software tools for their effective management for both internal and external audiences.
  • Develops code modification and custom scripting as needed to enhance the functionality of online information systems beyond out-of-the-box capabilities and to automate processes and repetitive tasks.
  • Writes, develops, and maintains online content for library staff and patrons using current and modern web design standards and best practices.
  • Evaluates, selects, and develops software platforms and processes to enable front-line staff to participate in content creation while adhering to departmental graphic design standards and branding.
  • Maintains and develops the Integrated Library System (ILS) "Discovery Layer" (Online Catalog) to assist customers in locating resources and promote library materials.
  • Develops and maintains graphic design and branding standards for library's print and digital content, including provision of centralized tools for shared templates to be used by frontline staff also participating in content creation such as flyers, calendar events, and social media posts.
  • Facilitates centralized coordination of the library's social media content and communications paths, including digital advertising, user engagement, and analysis of audience reach.
  • Coordinates the standards, software and security settings of various end-user devices used by library staff for the delivery of library programming to the public, such as VR headsets, tablets, and gaming consoles.
  • Develops, documents, and delivers digital training materials for library patrons and staff a variety of formats.
  • Serves as the initial point of contact with vendors to solve problems.
  • Acts as the first line of support for patrons and library staff needing assistance in using the library's services and technology.
  • Trains fellow employees on system operations and usage.
  • Maintains current technical expertise on Web design standards and trends and related technologies and stays abreast of current technology trends in the library and end-user devices by attending trainings, conferences, meetings, reading relevant literature and online sources.
  • Collects and maintains statistics and creates reports as needed related to the performance, function, and utilization of library resources and technology and digital outreach efforts.
  • Participates in library-wide committees as assigned, particularly those responsible for technology planning, training, and support.
  • Communicates and acts in a professional manner with the public, co-workers, and work contacts.
  • System administration and configuration tasks on Integrated Library System (ILS) and related technologies and systems with focus on web and mobile interfaces to these systems.
  • Maintains a clean and organized facility.
  • Assists with LAN/WAN network administration including routers, switches, and wireless access points.
  • Assists with configuration, deployment, and ongoing maintenance of library public and circulation desk computers.
  • Assists with system administration and configuration of Library physical and virtual servers used for tasks such as computer reservations, public printing, and network access.
  • Performs special assignments as requested.
