About The Position

The Longmeadow Storrs Library is seeking a FT Library Assistant: 36.25 hours per week. Position is responsible for managing circulation processes and duties, patron services, and technical services and support.

Requirements

• Knowledge of relevant Massachusetts General Laws related to essential functions
• Knowledge of Library practices and procedures
• Knowledge of various technological devices and software
• Ability to multi-task and maintain a high level of organizational skill while producing detailed work
• Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
• Ability to maintain good public relations and to maintain effective collaborative working relationships with Town departments, department heads, fellow employees, officials and the general public
• Ability to respond in a courteous and professional manner
• Ability to meet deadlines
• Ability to work independently
• Ability to train and support staff
• Ability to be highly self-motivated, energetic, creative, and flexible with the ability to prioritize
• Ability to discern patrons needs and communicate clearly when answering questions and providing information
• Ability to troubleshoot any and all computer issues that may arise
• Ability to learn new software as needed
• Strong communication skills, problem-solving skills and customer service skills

Nice To Haves

• Post high school degree preferred
• 3 to 5 years of related experience or any equivalent combination of education, training, certification, and experience
