Library Technician
About The Position
LAC Federal is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Library Technician to provide inventory services for Chinese collections within the Asian Division of a large, national library in Washington, DC. In this role, the Library Technician will play a critical part in maintaining, managing, and organizing Chinese-language materials, ensuring their accessibility and preservation for library patrons. This position requires strong Chinese language skills, as well as the ability to work efficiently in a dynamic environment handling multilingual collection materials.
Requirements
- Experience working with integrated library systems (ILS) and an understanding of cataloging standards and practices
- Proficiency using the Voyager ILS system
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and priorities
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate successfully with staff and team members
- Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high-quality work standards
- Proficiency in Chinese language (reading proficiency in Chinese is required)
Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate inventory of library materials
- Manage the organization and shelving of books and resources according to established library standards
- Assist with shelf-reading and troubleshooting inventory discrepancies
- Track and report on inventory status and trends
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment
