About The Position

The University of Nevada, Reno invites applications for a Library Technician 1 within University Libraries. This position is part of the Libraries’ Research and Instructional Services (RIS) department and plays a key role in supporting research assistance and instructional initiatives. The Library Technician 1 will help oversee and staff the department’s research help services, providing support to students, faculty, and staff through multiple channels, including chat, email, phone, and in-person consultations. Additional responsibilities include developing and maintaining departmental documentation and public-facing resources such as instructional webpages and learning modules; hiring and supervising Peer Research Consultant (PRC) student employees; compiling and reporting research service statistics; and providing general administrative support to the RIS department. This role offers an opportunity to contribute to student success and enhance access to research support services across the University.

Requirements

  • Graduation from high school or equivalent education and two (2) years of customer service experience in a library or other cultural heritage institution; OR One (1) year of experience as a Library Assistant III in Nevada State service; OR An equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
