About The Position
The Olathe Public Library is seeking a motivated individual for an internship that will provide an opportunity for gaining knowledge, training, and experience related to library programming and services. You will work closely with the children, teen, and adult programming teams to provide programming and outreach to library customers of all ages. The City of Olathe provides meaningful work assignments to our interns and the opportunity to experience what it's like working in public service to help prepare for a future in their chosen career. Interns gain valuable skills in a real-world experience outside the classroom, and the city mentors students in their career development. This is also a great opportunity to create a professional network with experienced librarians, leading professionals, and peers. An internship puts you directly in the workplace. You develop your skills, acquire new knowledge, and expand your knowledge of local government in an organizational setting while also getting hands-on experience for your future career. This role works primarily on weekdays, but weeknight and weekend availability are required for attendance at relevant events.
