  • Masters in Library Science
  • Licensure in School Library Media Coordinator (076)

Responsibilities

  • To select and acquire materials to implement the curriculum and to meet the individual interest, ability and maturity levels of students
  • To organize and distribute all media and audio-visual equipment for effective use
  • To participate in curriculum planning and program development and implementation and to develop a close working relationship among teachers, principals and other media librarians
  • To create an attractive environment and atmosphere that encourages students and teachers to use the media center
  • To stimulate and guide students in all phases of their reading, viewing, and listening, so that they may effectively assimilate information
  • To provide instruction in cooperation with the staff in media and resource skills
  • To provide media center experiences to help students develop satisfactory personal relationships, social attitudes, and vocation and vocational interests
  • To conduct with teachers and volunteer personnel (adult and student) in-service and other staff development activities in the use of audio-visual equipment and materials
  • To acquaint the staff and students with the media collection and with new materials
  • To assist the principal in ensuring that instructional materials and equipment are used to provide learning experiences compatible with the educational needs of students
  • Participate as a member of the district Media/Technology Advisory Committee
  • Coordinates school media and technology plans as chair of the school-level Media/Technology Advisory Committee
