About The Position

The Library Summer Intern provides essential support to daily library operations, with a focus on delivering excellent customer service and promoting reading, nutrition, and fitness during the busy summer months. This internship offers hands-on experience in a public library environment-ideal for individuals interested in exploring careers in libraries, education, or related fields.

Requirements

• Friendly and approachable demeanor with strong customer service skills.
• Interest in working with the public, especially families and children.
• Ability to follow directions and work collaboratively with staff.

• Previous experience in libraries or public service settings is a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with routine circulation tasks such as checking in library materials and shelving books.
• Answer basic patron questions and help maintain a welcoming environment.
• Support library programs and events by setting up and cleaning up program areas.
• Distributing materials and preparing crafts.
• Greeting participants and helping track attendance with a people counter.
• Assist with the Summer Lunch Program by helping with meal kit distribution.
• Leading or supporting craft, game, or enrichment activities.
• Participating in clean-up duties after lunch sessions.
