About The Position

The Provo City Library is looking for a part-time Information Systems Technician to provide technical work in the operations and maintenance of various hardware and software systems with specific support to library patrons in the use of these systems. Qualified, civic-minded individuals interested in supporting the services provided to Provo residents are strongly encouraged to apply.

Requirements

• Provo City will honor an equivalent combination of job-related education and/or experience [one year of post-secondary education/training for six months of experience].
• High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
• One year of computer operation and system support experience.
• A valid, lawful Driver License may be required.

Responsibilities

• Maintain user help desk for technical hardware and software issues.
• Ensure a quick response and timely resolution on all inquiries.
• Troubleshoot basic hardware and software problems on the phone or on location.
• Maintain an accurate log of support calls and their results.
• Instruct users on basic software and computer use, best practices, and procedures.
• Deploy basic software applications on workstations, scanners, printers, and other computerized devices.
• Receive training in developing and configuring the parameters and deployment strategies of more complex software applications.
• Detect and eliminate basic system viruses, spyware, and other malware.
• May perform elementary programming, including writing and maintaining system queries.
• Assist in determining need for, evaluating, selecting, installing, and replacing a variety of hardware, including printers, projectors, scanners and other peripherals.
• Assist in maintaining life cycle of hardware and software, including maintaining an accurate inventory, facilitating manufacturer warranties, and analyzing replacement needs.
• Assist other staff members as needed and perform other related duties as required.
