The Library Customer Service Assistant provides public information services at the reference desk, assisting patrons of all ages with their reading and informational needs. This role involves collaboration with library staff to enhance library services, recommend reading materials, and support various library programs.

  • Provide public information services at the general reference desk for children, teens, and adults.
  • Assist with the collection and development of library materials across various library agencies.
  • Recommend appropriate reading materials to library management for different age groups.
  • Work collaboratively with library personnel to assist customers with computers and identify books in the collection.
  • Provide basic circulation desk services as needed.
  • Assist in planning and conducting programs for children, teens, and adults.
  • Lift and carry books, supplies, or materials to assist customers.
  • Stock library shelves with books and reading materials.
  • Assist in training staff and volunteers as assigned.
  • Bachelor's degree in Liberal Arts, General or Interdisciplinary Studies, Adult/Youth Education, or a related field from an accredited four-year college/university.
  • One year of experience in customer service related work preferred, or any combination of experience or training that enables one to perform the essential job functions.
