About The Position

The Library Clerk (PT) position at Theodore Johns Library involves assisting patrons with library materials and ensuring the proper functioning of library services. Requirements

  • Knowledge of library techniques and procedures desired.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with the public.
  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
  • Experience operating equipment including adding machines and PCs.
  • Typing skills at 30 words per minute accurately.
  • Ability to maintain library and archival records.
  • Skill in alphabetizing and performing mathematical calculations.
  • Ability to read and make decisions.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in library or records management for at least six months.

Responsibilities

  • Assist patrons with library materials and equipment usage.
  • Help the public locate books, periodicals, and other materials.
  • Maintain library materials in proper shelf order.
  • Process materials for library files and prepare statistical reports.
  • Type assigned reports and assist with library records management.
  • Answer phone inquiries and assist with other library functions.
  • Assist with story times and programs for preteens, teens, and adults.
