The Town of Needham is excited to announce an opening for the part-time position of Library Circulation Assistant at the Needham Free Public Library. This role is essential in providing a welcoming and efficient service to library patrons. The Library Circulation Assistant will report directly to the Library Circulation Supervisor and will be responsible for a variety of tasks that support the library's operations and enhance the patron experience. The ideal candidate will possess a strong administrative or support background, excellent communication skills, and a genuine passion for serving the Needham community. In this position, the Library Circulation Assistant will engage with library patrons, assisting them with inquiries and directing them to the appropriate resources or staff members. The role involves processing library checkouts, renewals, returns, and reservations, as well as managing fines and registrations. Maintaining the orderliness of the materials collection is also a key responsibility, ensuring that the library remains a welcoming and organized space for all visitors. The Library Circulation Assistant will perform other circulation procedures as required, contributing to the overall efficiency of library services. The Needham Free Public Library is currently undergoing exciting changes, guided by our new Strategic Plan for FY2023-2027, which aims to meet the evolving needs of the community. Additionally, a recent Library Space Utilization Study has set forth a vision for reimagining the library's interior space in four phases, enhancing the services we provide to our patrons. With diverse collections, plentiful programming, and a commitment to excellent service, the Needham Free Public Library is poised to be the go-to destination for both new and current library workers.
