About The Position

Lead a Dynamic Library Team serving the needs of those in Downtown Raleigh, NC! Wake County Public Libraries is seeking a Library Branch Manager for its Express Library – Fayetteville Street location. The Express Library – Fayetteville Street is a small, storefront facility in the Wake County Office Building in downtown Raleigh. The library seeks to serve individuals and groups living and working near downtown. Key Responsibilities of the Express Library Manager: The manager will be at the forefront in fostering dynamic and sustainable partnerships with agencies and organizations that can co-locate professional staff with a shared goal of meeting the needs of individuals seeking to stabilize, improve, and grow their individual life experiences . The manager will create library experiences, services, programs, and collections that support the library’s goals. The manager will supervise and regularly evaluate a team of 4-5 Library Assistants to provide excellent customer service. to patrons receiving services as well as online customer service to patrons seeking assistance via the AskWCPL email service. With the support of Wake County Security and General Services Department, Manager and staff will present the library as a clean, safe, welcoming, and transformative space for all patrons. The manager will advocate directly with Library Administration for the needs of the library, its staff and its patrons. The manager will also communicate Library System initiatives, projects, changes, etc. directly to library staff. The manager will play a key role in helping to define the goals of a County Renovation (planning phase beginning Jan 2028) for the library. The typical schedule for the library manager is 40 hours per week, 8:30-5:30 or 9:00-6:00, Monday-Friday. This is subject to change based on business needs. Requirements

  • Master's degree in Librarianship or related field: MLS, MLIS, MIS, ML from an ALA accredited program or NC program
  • One year of experience as a librarian
  • Equivalent education and experience are NOT accepted

Nice To Haves

  • Three (3) years of professional public library experience.
  • One (1) year of public library management or supervisory experience.
  • Professional experience in social work, behavioral health, or public health.
