About The Position

Under the general direction of the Library Public Services Division Manager, the Library Branch Manager directs and manages professional, technical, and clerical employees. The Library Manager assists in the day-to-day functioning of their assigned library branch.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Public Administration, Business Administration or related field and five years of progressively responsible experience supervising public library operations and services; or, a combination of education and experience equivalent to these requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Manages staff to include prioritizing and assigning work; conducting performance evaluations; ensuring staff are trained; ensuring that employees follow policies and procedures; maintaining a healthy and safe work environment; and making hiring, termination, and disciplinary recommendations
  • Plans, organizes, coordinates, and supervises the work of subordinate employees
  • Reviews supply requisitions for library materials and resources
  • Assists in the preparation of the annual budget for the West Florida Public Libraries
  • Conducts annual inventory of capital equipment; maintains related records
  • Plans, coordinates, administers, and evaluates programs, projects, processes, procedures, systems, and standards, to ensure compliance with Federal, State, and local laws, regulations, codes, and/or standards.
  • Monitors and interprets changes in laws and regulations, related to public library and services reporting; evaluates their impact on applicable activities
  • Prepares technical and administrative reports
  • Acts as a liaison with Federal, State, local, and other agencies
  • Performs other duties as assigned
