The Fulton County Library System is recruiting for unclassified vacancies that will be used to fill permanent, temporary, and part-time positions. The annual salary for permanent positions is $41,545.00, while part-time positions offer an hourly rate of $19.97. The library branch location for these positions is the Adams Park Library. Duties will vary based on the area of assignment.

  • Provides customer service to patrons and the public, including greeting visitors and directing them to areas of the library.
  • Assists patrons with self-check and library services, registers new patrons, and prepares new and replacement library cards.
  • Researches book titles, book availability, and patron records; reserves materials for patrons and notifies them about overdue books.
  • Staffs the circulation desk, checks library materials in/out, assesses and clears fines, and operates the library's automated circulation system.
  • May lead staff as needed, establishing workloads and prioritizing work assignments.
  • Shelves library materials and maintains shelf order.
  • Performs library accounting functions and manages budget accounts within assigned area.
  • Coordinates the holds process for an assigned unit or branch.
  • Operates a computer to enter, retrieve, review, or modify data.
  • Interprets library rules, policies, and procedures for assigned staff and library patrons.
  • Assists in planning, developing, and implementing programs and workshops.
  • Provides assistance to library patrons in using computer resources and teaches basic functions.
  • Prepares various forms, reports, and correspondence.
  • Answers the telephone and provides information and assistance.
  • Communicates with various stakeholders to coordinate work activities and resolve problems.
  • Serves on committees and assists in drafting policies and procedures.
  • Associate's Degree in a related field required; Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • Two (2) years of customer service or library-related experience.
  • Ability to demonstrate proficiency in essential functions and apply county or departmental policies.
  • Experience in library services or related fields.
  • Knowledge of library systems and procedures.
