About The Position

Charges and discharges library materials to the public; registers borrowers; retrieves library and overdue materials; uses computer for bibliographic searching; resolves inquiries/complaints concerning the borrowing/lending of materials; advises public of materials to meet reading needs.

Requirements

  • Graduation from high school or an equivalent recognized certification
  • Minimum of two (2) years of college-level coursework (must specify 60-semester/90-quarter hours)
  • Equivalencies: Graduation from high school/equivalent; one (1) year of college-level coursework (must specify 30-semester/45-quarter hours) AND one (1) year of experience working in a library OR graduation from high school/equivalent AND two (2) years of experience working in a library

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in a library circulation/member services section/bookstore
  • Experience handling cash
  • Experience using an automated circulation system (must specify system used on application)
  • Experience providing assistance with self-service technology (must specify on application)
  • Bi/trilingual (English/Spanish/Creole)
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds
