The Library Associate 3 Langsam Evening/Weekend Service Coordinator position at the University of Cincinnati involves performing advanced library support activities under general supervision. This role requires a comprehensive knowledge of bibliographic principles and library procedures, providing high-quality public and technical services to library patrons, and overseeing core functions within the library unit. The position also serves as the building supervisor during evening and weekend shifts, addressing various library-related issues and ensuring compliance with library policies.

  • Provide advanced level of public service to library patrons.
  • Participate in instruction programs and assist with the development of instructional materials.
  • Answer complex reference questions and utilize discipline-specific databases.
  • Assist with outreach and library promotion.
  • Provide advanced level of technical service relative to library operations and materials.
  • Order and receive library materials in all formats.
  • Resolve problems with vendors regarding library materials and access issues.
  • Perform copy cataloging and resolve complex serials problems.
  • Conduct evaluation and repair of damaged collection materials.
  • Train and mentor volunteers in repairs on general collection materials.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of new operating policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate staffing for the unit and monitor the department's annual budget for student workers.
  • Analyze statistics and workload data to determine staffing needs.
  • Serve as lead worker and review the work of support staff for accuracy and completeness.
  • Create training and procedural documentation and identify benchmarks for quality control.
  • Assist with budget preparation and maintain budget records.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
  • At least three years of work experience in a library or comparable environment, or nine graduate level credit hours in Library or Information Science and at least two years of relevant work experience.
  • Minimum of two years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience with relevant software packages and/or technologies may be required.
  • Some positions may require at least one year of supervisory experience and/or knowledge of a foreign language.
  • Three years of customer service experience.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office 365, particularly Teams, Excel, and SharePoint.
  • Professional writing and communication skills in print, digital, and virtual environments.
