About The Position

The Library Associate 2 is an entry-level role within the Library Associate job family and serves as an important part of the Camarillo Library team. Under the direction of library management, this position performs a variety of moderately complex technical and paraprofessional duties that support daily library operations, primarily at the circulation desk. This role is key to delivering outstanding customer service, helping patrons access library resources, and creating a welcoming, helpful, and community-focused library environment.

Requirements

  • H.S. Diploma or GED required
  • Ability to work a regular schedule that may include a combination of days, evenings and weekends
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal

Nice To Haves

  • Two years library experience preferred
  • Basic knowledge of library systems and databases preferred
  • English/Spanish speaking is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Provides excellent customer service by welcoming patrons, registering new library users, issuing library cards, checking out materials, and managing patron accounts
  • Assists patrons with locating library materials, connecting with the reference desk, using computers, and understanding library procedures such as checking out items, logging onto the internet, and making copies
  • Checks in, sorts, and processes library materials as needed
  • Accepts and processes fines, fees, and other patron payments
  • Shares information with patrons regarding library programs, events, services, and conference room use
  • Prepares and mails library materials for homebound patron services, as needed
  • Shelves library materials accurately and in a timely manner
  • Responds to patron conduct or safety concerns and escalates issues to appropriate management when necessary
  • Maintains patron privacy and follows all legal and policy requirements related to confidentiality and the custodianship of patron records
  • Performs other duties as assigned
