About The Position

This position is expected to interact with students and patrons in a patient and polite manner in an effort to create a healthy library environment conducive to learning.

Requirements

High school diploma/GED
Ability to prioritize tasks and organize work efficiently
Ability to develop and maintain professional relationships with students, faculty, and staff
Punctual, dedicated, friendly, and willing to practice radical hospitality on a daily basis
Great attention to detail
Be able to lift up to 25 lbs., sit for long periods, read and work from computer 85% of the time
Computer skills to include proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet, PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat, and database applications
Able to work well with little supervision and relate well to a diverse student and faculty population
Excellent written and verbal communications skills
Able to work in a typical office environment
Able to handle occasional high levels of stress
Organized, confidentiality-minded, expedient, tactful, and even-tempered
Excellent customer service skills are required

Responsibilities

Unlock doors and prepare library for patrons
Check book drops
Process and shelve newspapers
Assist patrons with computers, printers/copiers, scanners and other library equipment
Aid patrons with specific types of software and internet-based resources (i.e.: Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint, library database access, library print software, etc.)
Help to maintain order in the library
Straighten furniture
Record incidents and report to full-time staff members
Participate in special projects
Follow and adhere to general Kilgore College and Watson Library policies and procedures
Other duties as assigned
