About The Position

The CT State Community College is developing a pool of applicants for potential part-time Library Assistant positions. These positions are on continuous recruitment, and are filled on an as-needed basis, depending on specific department needs. You will only be contacted if there is a current need at the campus you indicated on your application and have met the qualifications/skills and experience that are required for the position. Your applications will stay active for 1 year. Location: Multiple Campuses. This position is not remote. Requirements

• Associates degree, with preference for Library Technical Science or a subject area related to library services in the academic field.
• Experience with Librarianship functional areas.
• Experience with library patrons.
• Proven ability to effectively work with culturally, linguistically, and ethnically diverse faculty, staff, and students.
• Experience with reflective, interactive, culturally responsive pedagogical teaching techniques.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Strong Information technology literacy skills such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams etc.).

Nice To Haves

• Two (2) years of related experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform support services in one or more library functions in the library or learning resource center.
• Assist with circulation, periodicals processing, acquisitions processing, interlibrary loans, reserves, online copy cataloging, basic reference and readers' advisory, and audio-visual equipment lending.
• Provide coverage for the library at designated times in the absence of more senior positions.
• Provide useful and helpful services to the library and its patrons in support of the College's learning mission.
