About The Position

The Verona Public Library is seeking a Library Assistant for its Reference Department. This part-time role involves providing reference assistance to patrons, technology education, collection maintenance, and curating book displays. The ideal candidate should possess strong customer service and organizational skills, along with relevant educational background or experience.

Requirements

• At least two years of study at an accredited college, university, or technical school or related experience.
• Customer service experience.
• Public library experience is preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to find and present information effectively.
• Ability to provide computer assistance to patrons.
• Working knowledge of library procedures and technologies.
• Professional use of English grammar and spelling.

Nice To Haves

• Spanish language knowledge is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide reader's advisory, reference, and research assistance.
• Assist patrons in locating library materials or placing holds.
• Instruct patrons on the use of library resources, including the catalog.
• Assist patrons with library computers.
• Proctor exams for patrons.
• Make study and meeting room reservations.
• Assist patrons with outer library loan requests.
• Send faxes for patrons.
• Carry out library policies and procedures.
• Attend and participate in team meetings.
• Create book displays.
• Assist in library weeding or collection maintenance projects.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.
