About The Position

The STEM Course Reserves Specialist at the University of Rochester will be a vital member of the River Campus Libraries (RCL) Patron Services Team. This role involves managing the Course Reserves collection for the Carlson Science & Engineering Library and assisting with requests at other River Campus Libraries. The specialist will support daily operations, provide assistance at service points, and ensure high-quality service for library users.

Requirements

• Associate's Degree required; Bachelor's Degree preferred.
• 2+ years customer service experience required.
• 1+ years working in a library environment preferred.
• Ability to follow established procedures and perform work requiring considerable attention to detail.
• Outstanding verbal and written communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to learn new skills independently.
• Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite.
• Commitment to diversity required.

Nice To Haves

• History of navigating change in a team environment preferred.
• Demonstrated success in working as a member of a team preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage the Course Reserves collection for the Carlson Science & Engineering Library.
• Assist with fulfillment of Course Reserves requests at other River Campus Libraries.
• Open and close the Carlson Library as scheduled.
• Support multiple RCL Q&i service points to assist patrons with accessing library resources and services.
• Maintain the Carlson Library Physical Course Reserves collection, including fulfilling requests and communicating with faculty.
• Provide general in-person support to the RCL Patron Services department, including scanning documents and answering phones.
• Fulfill electronic Course Reserves requests and collaborate with subject librarians for faculty support.
• Maintain collaborative relationships with Course Reserves staff from other RCL libraries and update policy documents.
• Participate in professional development activities and departmental projects.
