About The Position

Perform a variety of duties consisting of sorting and shelving library materials, maintaining areas of the library in an orderly fashion and additional tasks as directed. This position requires the ability to read groups of numbers and letters following library protocol. Must be able to lift 40 pounds. This position may require working days, evenings and weekends. Up to 14 hours per week

Requirements

  • Must be at least 15 years of age.
  • Reliable transportation is required

  • Is consistently at work and on time.
  • Self-motivated, and ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

  • Sorts and shelves library materials according to library protocol.
  • Ensures the library is maintained in an orderly fashion by picking up materials that are left in random locations and shelving them accordingly.
  • Straightens chairs and tables as needed.
  • Checks kits and library of things items for disrepair or missing pieces and brings to library associate or librarian if there is an issue.
  • Empties book drop items onto a cart and discharges items.
  • Shelf reads all shelves making sure all books are in correct order.
  • Straightens all shelves, pulling items forward to the edge of the shelves to make everything look nice.
  • Wipes down tables, computer tables using paper towels and cleaning spray.
  • Dusts around computers and use duster spray to clean keyboards.
  • Checks emails.
  • Substitutes as Library Aide at other branches when needed and available.
