About The Position

Orchard Farm School District is seeking a certified librarian to join our team! Our mission is to empower each learner to excel in diverse communities. Librarians are responsible for providing an enriched media environment containing a wide variety and range of materials and equipment that will invite academic and technical growth. The librarian will create an environment of information resources. Orchard Farm School District is located in St. Charles County, MO with a current enrollment of approximately 2,600 students and growing. Over the last decade, new developments like Charlestowne and New Town, situated along Highway 370, have contributed significantly to our increase in enrollment. Requirements

  • Bachelor degree or higher
  • Appropriate Missouri Teaching Certificate
  • Knowledge of state standards, federal and state regulations and law
  • Knowledge of subject matter content and assessment strategies
  • Knowledge of best practices in curriculum and instruction
  • Ability to relate to students, staff, and parents in a positive manner
  • Ability to communicate clearly in verbal and written form
  • Ability to follow written and oral communication
  • Ability to problem solve

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a comprehensive and efficient system for cataloging all media materials and instruct teachers and students on use of the system.
  • Participate in the development of media policies.
  • Promote appropriate conduct of students using media facilities.
  • Prepare and administer the media budget.
  • Establish routines and procedures for selecting, ordering, processing, organizing, classifying and maintaining media holdings.
  • Maintain accurate records of media materials and equipment.
  • Supervise the technical aspects of media management including Internet use.
  • Inform teachers and other staff members concerning all media equipment and resources.
  • Create and maintain an atmosphere conducive to effective media use.
  • Design and implement a functional media center skills program for students in assigned buildings.
  • Participate in curriculum study and revision.
  • Keep conversant with current educational research, trends, methods and materials.
  • Provide professional materials to faculty.
  • Promote activities to assist students in the development of recreational reading.
