About The Position

Requirements

• Hold a New Jersey Educational Services Certificate with School Library Media Specialist Endorsement.
• Have excellent experience in teaching and working with children.
• Demonstrated ability in collection development, information technology, and research methodology.
• Effective problem-solving, human relations, and communication skills.
• Provide proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status.
• Provide evidence of a criminal record history check.
• Pass the state required Mantoux Intradermal Tuberculin Test.
• Meet any alternate qualifications deemed appropriate by the Superintendent.

Responsibilities

• Supervise the operation of the school media center.
• Maintain a comprehensive and efficient system for cataloging media center materials.
• Coordinate library skills instruction with classroom instruction.
• Evaluate, select, and requisition new media center materials.
• Prepare and administer the media center budget.
• Supervise clerical activities for effective media center operation.
• Provide library skills instruction to students.
• Help students develop independent reference work habits.
• Collaborate with teachers to integrate information literacy competencies.
• Assist teachers in selecting instructional materials.
• Conduct in-service education for teachers on media evaluation and selection.
