This position performs a variety of library functions. The primary responsibilities include cataloging, metadata creation and maintenance, generating reports in the integrated library system (ILS), and processing course reserves. This librarian is a member of the circulation team, which includes staffing the circulation desk and retrieving resources to support the research efforts of the Cardozo School of Law community. In addition to these responsibilities, this librarian will maintain and update the library website content and participate in some collection development activities.

  • Performs professional duties related to providing library collections and services for the University community.
  • Performs library Collection Development and Collection Management tasks, including selecting library materials for acquisition, monitoring library materials expenditures, developing approval plans, and implementing electronic reserves services.
  • Filters course syllabi and interfaces with faculty about additional course materials and copyright restrictions.
  • Organizes, scans, and makes reserve materials accessible.
  • Guides Library patrons in the use of library resources and research by providing one-on-one reference service in person, via phone, email, and other developing technologies.
  • Teaches library classes, designs instructional courses, and implements new methodologies.
  • Creates guides to library research and develops content for library web pages.
  • Performs cataloging and metadata services for library materials, trains cataloging support staff, and ensures the integrity of the OPAC.
  • Plans the utilization of library space, facilities, and projects.
  • Stays current with developments in the library profession, copyright regulations, and research trends.
  • Engages in research and professional activities such as publication, lectures, and participation in library organizations.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • MLS or equivalent.
  • Proficiency in reading Hebrew.
  • Experience with integrated library systems, including FOLIO.
