The San José Public Library (SJPL) is seeking enthusiastic and dedicated Librarians I/II to join our team in providing exceptional library services to the diverse community of San José. These part-time benefited positions will require working 20 hours per week, including evening, Saturday, and Sunday shifts. The ideal candidates will embody the San José Way of library innovation and align with the Mission, Vision, and Values of both the City of San José and the San José Public Library. Candidates should demonstrate a commitment to active customer service, intellectual freedom, and access to a wide array of ideas and information. Knowledge of current library technology and trends, experience working with a diverse community, and programming or project management skills are essential for success in this role. As a Librarian at SJPL, you will engage in a variety of professional duties, including programming for all ages, conducting story times, and developing innovative school and community engagement programs. You will also be involved in outreach efforts, coding and STEAM programming, and volunteer engagement. Our librarians are trained to provide excellent customer service, and bilingual skills are preferred to better serve our community.
