Sierra College is accepting applications for teaching positions across all subject areas to create a pool of qualified applicants. Applications are retained for two years, and the number of open positions varies each semester. The Division Dean or Department Chair will reach out directly for interviews when positions become available. The college values interest in its teaching opportunities.

  • Perform daily operations of the Reference Department, including desk coverage, statistical tracking, in-person and online reference services, and user studies.
  • Provide consultation to users regarding the availability of intra-and interlibrary loan services.
  • Share evening/weekend reference desk duty as necessary.
  • Assume leadership role in LRC.
  • Liaison with instructional faculty.
  • Assist in the design and development of services.
  • Assist library users in the use of library technologies, including Microsoft Office, LibCal Reservation system, printing services, and wireless network.
  • Coordinate the selection and organization of appropriate research materials to support a diverse, interdisciplinary reference and general collection.
  • Oversee the organization, maintenance, and appropriateness of library holdings.
  • Assume a leadership role in the management of subscriptions.
  • Assist with the development of collection goals, policies, and programs.
  • Collaborate with other District librarians and instructional faculty in the development of collection goals.
  • Coordinate the development and delivery of general and specialized library instruction sessions.
  • Prepare course-related modules to support research needs of students.
  • Develop online library guides, tutorials, handouts, and other research aids.
  • Orient library users to the use of the library and LRC facilities.
  • Provide system and service support in all general circulation activities.
  • Develop, promote, and coordinate support for the service mission of the LRC.
  • Monitor current literature and attend relevant meetings and conferences for professional development.
  • Develop individualized training workshops for staff.
  • Attend and participate in library/LRC meetings and campus activities.
  • Master's in library science or library and information science, or the equivalent.
