The Liaison Engineer serves as the primary technical interface between Engineering, Operations, Quality, and the external FAA DERs, resolving real-time shop-floor issues and developing repair workscopes for complex aircraft structures and nacelle components. This role evaluates damage, defines repair limits, prepares and presents engineering data packages to DERs for 8110-3 approval, and supports return-to-service decisions. The Liaison Engineer also performs reverse engineering using dimensional inspection, CAD modeling, and material analysis to support DER repairs, PMA alternatives, and fabricated details. In parallel, the role drives cost-reduction and turnaround-time improvements by optimizing repair processes, reducing scrap, clarifying workscopes, and enabling efficient shop execution.
