About the position

The Liaison Engineer at PACCAR Inc. plays a crucial role in coordinating between engineering, production, materials, and quality teams to ensure smooth manufacturing processes. This position involves investigating production issues, developing engineering solutions, and communicating effectively with various stakeholders to enhance production efficiency and product quality.

Responsibilities

  • Provide timely support to Production, Quality, and Materials related to build issues in a fast-paced environment.
  • Investigate issues to determine root causes and implement corrective actions to resolve them.
  • Develop short-term engineering solutions and containment strategies with Design Engineering to eliminate recurring production line issues.
  • Communicate the impact of engineering issues and provide rework instructions to production teams.
  • Provide clear information to Kenworth Division Engineering for implementing long-term corrective actions to resolve design issues.
  • Communicate chassis image changes through verbal updates, email distributions, and online defect tracking systems.
  • Update management on key issues and their impacts on production flow.
  • Document build issues and corrective actions in a corrective action system, ensuring accurate chassis image reflects correct part usage.
  • Conduct and monitor special studies or investigations as requested by the Liaison Supervisor or Resident Engineering Manager.
  • Review upcoming builds to anticipate and mitigate potential production challenges.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements

  • Four-year degree or equivalent applicable experience required.
  • Background in manufacturing, fabrication, machine design, system design, or general industrial/machinery/mechanical experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in the automotive or heavy-duty truck industry.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a team environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
