About The Position

The Liability Claim Representative is responsible for investigating and resolving auto accident claims involving third-party property damage. This role requires thorough evaluation of facts, applicable laws, and regulations to ensure fair and equitable settlements. The adjuster will conduct detailed investigations, interview involved parties, assess liability, and manage claims through resolution while maintaining compliance with state-specific rules and industry standards. Your experience with effective communication, negotiation, and analytics skills will provide you with success in this role. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Two years of experience in property damage claims, safety, compliance, transportation services, or a combination thereof.
  • Current Florida adjuster license or acquired license within 90 days of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s degree in related field
  • Working knowledge of Windows, Word, Excel and PDF document formats
  • Familiarity with electronic claims processing systems; ability to process claims in a timely manner.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Sound independent negotiation, mediation, and conflict resolution skills within approval limits.
  • Possess a general understanding of tort law, various rules of negligence, measure of damages, releases, statutory & general claims handling practices.
  • An understanding of electronic discovery and preservation of evidence
  • A general understanding of auto liability, general liability, physical damage insurance coverage

Responsibilities

  • Review initial accident/incident details, including parties involved and damages.
  • Verify applicable insurance policy coverage and coverage codes.
  • Conduct investigations to confirm accident facts (e.g., police reports, witness and claimant interviews).
  • Identify potential fraud indicators and escalate for SIU assignment if warranted.
  • Determine need for field investigation by Independent Adjusters
  • Assess liability based on available information and investigative findings
  • Establish and adjust reserves appropriately throughout the claim lifecycle.
  • Determine appropriate claim resolution, including negotiation and settlement.
  • Obtain and document required settlement or authority from management.
  • Coordinate with appraisers, repair facilities, tow companies, storage yards, rental companies, and other vendors.
  • Approve rental vehicles and manage associated costs and rental periods.
  • Confirm damages, repair or replacement costs, and related expenses.
  • Maintain multi-state adjusting licenses and complete continuing education (CE) requirements.
  • Stay updated on industry developments, legal changes, and best practices.
  • Respond timely to arbitration filings and other legal or regulatory documents.
