About The Position

The Los Gatos-Saratoga Union High School District is seeking a part-time School Resource Aide Substitute to provide direct instructional assistance to students facing educational, physical, or behavioral challenges. This role operates under the general direction of a school administrator and receives specific guidance from classroom teachers. The Aide will be responsible for tutoring students in both general and special education settings, assisting in the management of intensified learning experiences for students with special needs, and making routine decisions in accordance with established policies and procedures. The Aide will work closely with children who have various physical and emotional handicaps, reviewing daily lesson plans with instructional personnel and assisting in the presentation of learning materials. Responsibilities include tutoring individual students and small groups, monitoring student behavior to ensure safety, and employing positive reinforcement strategies to shape student behavior. The Aide will also prepare instructional materials, operate instructional media and equipment, and maintain an inventory of educational resources. Additionally, the role involves attending to the personal care of students with physical limitations and adhering to confidentiality guidelines regarding student records. Regular attendance and the performance of various clerical and supportive tasks are also required. Candidates should possess knowledge of child growth and development, adolescent behavior, and instructional materials relevant to specific grade levels. The ability to communicate effectively, demonstrate patience, and establish positive relationships with students and staff is essential. A high school diploma and completion of two years of college are required, along with two years of experience working with students in a special education environment, which can be substituted with relevant college coursework. Bilingual qualifications are desirable but not mandatory.
