About The Position

The field Operator reports to the Operations Supervisor and is a member of multi-disciplined crew responsible for the operation of the Port Arthur LNG export facility, including inlet gas pre-treatment and processing, LNG ship loading activities and emergency response. The incumbent is expected to be able to take instructions and conduct his/her duties activities in a safe manner on the Port Arthur LNG facility. Dedication, sensitivity to safety issues and compliance with policies and procedures is essential for the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of the plant. Strong ability to follow best practices for operations. Knowledge of operating site safety, environmental, and emergency response programs. Ability to apply written and oral communication skills while presenting and participating in fruitful discussions with internal stakeholders. Ability to understand the complexities and risk associated with an operating LNG facility and make necessary strategic decisions to operate the facility safely and reliably. Knowledge and proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, i.e. Word, Excel, PPT, Visio to convey information with clarity through presentations and reports. Understanding of maintenance work process and permitting systems. Working knowledge and understanding of how to read and interpret P&IDs. Ability to manage multiple and complex issues and work independently. Understanding of competency development programs and supporting tools and practices. Working knowledge of permit to work and safe isolation practices. TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential) Required

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Associate degree in Process Technology or other related field, or an equivalent combination of education and training/experience
  • Typically requires 3 years of related experience.
  • Strong ability to follow best practices for operations.
  • Knowledge of operating site safety, environmental, and emergency response programs.
  • Ability to apply written and oral communication skills while presenting and participating in fruitful discussions with internal stakeholders.
  • Ability to understand the complexities and risk associated with an operating LNG facility and make necessary strategic decisions to operate the facility safely and reliably.

Responsibilities

  • Operates plant process areas including instrument air systems, nitrogen systems, refrigerant storage inlet gas, amine, dehydration and cryogenic/liquefaction systems, refrigerant compressors and turbines, storage and loading systems including storage tanks, jetty operations, and LNG ship loading
  • Monitors and records instrument readings of gas volumes, temperatures, flows and pressures to ensure safe operation and quality product, and reports deviations from standard so that corrective action can implemented.
  • Performs all work in compliance with all company Environmental and Safety policies, understanding operating and permit limits to ensure regulatory compliance while maintaining maximum reliability and efficiency. Reports safety and environmental concerns, problems, and incidents to appropriate shift team members.
  • Assist with the pre-commissioning, commissioning, startup, and initial operation of the Port Arthur LNG Facility.
  • Records and evaluates operating performance data and informs Shift Supervisor and/or Senior Operator of potential problems and failures in a timely manner; works with Shift Supervisor and/or Senior Operator to expeditiously resolve plant problems and improve plant reliability and safety. Performs all duties applying safety protocols and adhering to regulatory mandates
  • Provides routine maintenance and security tasks when operations schedules permit.
  • Trains on environmental safety, operations, and security procedures.
  • Operates the facility recognizing the safety and environmental consequences of actions taken.
  • Inspects safety devices in area assigned, verifies their placement, evaluate their operational status to establish their hazard/incident detection and warning capabilities to prevent fires and accidents.  Report all issues detected or incidents immediately upon inspection/testing of safety devices
  • Emergency Response Protocols - Knowledge of shutdown procedures and incident escalation processes.
  • Regulatory Compliance - Familiarity with DOT, PHMSA, and company safety standards and operating procedures
  • Operational Planning - Understanding of outage coordination, capacity determination, and volume planning.
  • Technical Troubleshooting - Ability to diagnose and resolve atypical operating conditions using established procedures and judgment.
  • Data Analysis - Skill in interpreting operational data to identify trends, anomalies, and capacity constraints.
  • Communication - Strong ability to convey information clearly to field personnel, technical teams, and stakeholders during normal and emergency operations.
  • Decision-Making Under Pressure - Ability to make timely and accurate decisions in high-stress or emergency situations.
  • Attention to Detail - Ability to maintain precise operational records and ensure compliance with safety and regulatory requirements.
