About The Position

Fox TV Stations FOX Television Stations owns and operates 29 full power broadcast television stations in the U.S. These include stations located in 14 of the top 15 largest designated market areas, or DMAs, and duopolies in 11 DMAs, including the three largest DMAs (New York, Los Angeles and Chicago). Of these stations, 18 are affiliated with the FOX Network. In addition to distributing sports, entertainment and syndicated content, our television stations collectively produce approximately 1,200 hours of local news every week. These stations leverage viewer, distributor and advertiser demand for the FOX Network’s national content. JOB DESCRIPTION Responsibilities TD/Assistant Director: Assistant Direct automated newscasts, including routing, robotic camera operation/shading, Sony Switcher operation/macro generation, automated audio trimming, Chyron graphics assist, and other functions. Automated Directing: Fill-in to direct newscasts using iNews and Sony ELC automated production systems as necessary. Collaboration: Maintain a strong level of daily communication and collaboration with producers, talent, and the production team to ensure vision alignment. Production Excellence: Strive to maintain a high degree of production value with strong attention to production aesthetics, accuracy, and show pacing. Broadcast Prep: Assist with pre-production and post-show recordings as required. Creative Planning: Participate in pre-show planning for special show segments; provide guidance and work with the crew on sets, lighting, and shot blocking. System Maintenance: Work with the team to maintain the studio and control room working environment and technical systems. Versatility: Direct or act as crew for special studio or remote productions. General Support: Perform other duties as assigned by production leadership. Requirements & Technical Knowledge Automation: Automation: Proficiency in Sony ELC automated production systems is preferred but not required. Switching: Expert-level knowledge of Sony MLS, XPS, and MVS series production switchers. Robotics: Working knowledge of Vinten robotic camera systems and their integration within a live environment. Shading: Familiarity with camera shading control systems to maintain visual consistency across all studio cameras. Graphics: Knowledge of Chyron graphics systems is a significant plus. Leadership: Ability to clearly give direction to the crew while working under high pressure in a live news environment. IT & Newsroom Systems: Proficient IT skills and experience using iNews or similar newsroom computer systems. Interpersonal Skills: Must be a positive team player with strong communication skills. Core Competencies: Typing and good spelling skills are necessary; ability to read and write fluently; college degree preferred. Working Conditions This role requires the ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment. Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay rate/range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location is $55.97 per hour.
