About The Position

A highly skilled Lead Technician is needed to support telecom, fiber, and central office installation projects. This role requires someone who can work independently, communicate effectively with a small team, and execute tasks under tight timelines. Technicians must be self-directed, reliable, and capable of supporting and coordinating with peers while receiving leadership guidance from a Foreman.

Requirements

  • Technicians must have Level II or higher installer competency across:
  • DC Power systems
  • Telemetry and alarm systems
  • LTE and wireless technologies
  • Wireline environments
  • Central Office and MSC (Mobile Switching Center) sites
  • DSO through OC‑192 communication systems
  • Grounding, DC power, batteries, raceway, and superstructure systems
  • Bellcore/Telcordia, NFPA, UBC, and NEC codes and standards
  • Central office installation
  • Central office equipment handling
  • DC power installation and testing
  • Fiber optic cable installation and termination
  • Blueprint, spec sheet, and technical drawing interpretation
  • Strong quality control and documentation ability
  • Reliable transportation
  • Strong punctuality
  • High attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently with minimal direction
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills

Responsibilities

  • Install and remove fiber optic cables
  • Perform fiber pre‑termination, termination, and fiber raceway installation
  • Conduct lead verification and community testing
  • Analyze job specifications, drawings, and system diagrams
  • Provide task assignments and guidance to Level 1 and Level 2 installers
  • Prepare MOPs (Method of Procedure)
  • Prepare JIMs (Job Information Method)
  • Resolve discrepancies in drawings or job specifications
  • Mark, update, and correct office record drawings
  • Conduct in‑process and final quality inspections
  • Serve as the installation supplier’s in‑charge person for common system jobs
  • Work with systems including Alarms, Float, Equalize, Internal Resistance, Connection Resistance, Microhms/MHOS, Rectifiers, and PDUs
  • Follow EPA and HAZMAT guidelines related to battery recycling
  • Operate cabling tools such as hydraulic crimpers, cable cutters, and heat guns
  • Operate test equipment (Alber, Midtronics)
  • Adhere to OSHA safety regulations
  • Work with 12V, 24V, and 48V DC systems (experience preferred)
