About The Position

BMS Direct, Inc. – Job Description Position Title: Lettershop Technician Supervisor: Production Manager Purpose of Job: Responsible for performing duties to install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain production equipment. Assist machine operators on the most efficient means of operating the various systems in order to support Production and quality goals. Responsible for assessing, performing/repairing, assisting and/or coordinating facility maintenance.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED; 5-10 years related experience and/or training specifically on inserting equipment; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must have a developed mechanical aptitude.
  • Regularly required to sit or stand; and use of hands. Must frequently lift and/or move 50 pounds or more.
  • Good communication skills, outgoing, and personable.
  • Maintain professional appearance and demeanor that reflect the company’s commitment to quality, continuous improvement, and respect for individuals.
  • Must be familiar with Microsoft Office applications.
  • May be required to continue education and / or training.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain OSHA compliance & ensure safe practices are followed in all areas. This includes maintaining all machine guards and utilizing Lock out Tag out when working on equipment and facility maintenance.
  • Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs to production/facility equipment.
  • Perform tasks including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, troubleshooting and repair of production machines and facility maintenance.
  • Diagnose machine/facility problems, replace or repair parts, test and make adjustments. Contact contractors/vendors as needed to ensure timely fixes and safe operations.
  • Schedule, plan, and perform regular preventative maintenance on production/facility equipment.
  • Coordinate the timely ordering of needed parts, equipment to repair or PM equipment/facility components
  • Organize and maintain machine/facility parts with an accurate inventory system including retention of essential available back-up parts.
  • Maintain and ensure that any equipment, software or programs needs are up to date.
  • Help train operators for more efficient use of production equipment.
  • Notify Production Manager/General Manager of any mechanical problems that will affect the day’s scheduled production.
  • Understand daily production schedules and needs.
  • Schedule and track time stamped production/facility PMs (i.e. monthly, yearly, etc.)
  • Understand general workflow of orders, job jacket instructions and proper quality procedures.
  • Notify Production Manager/General Manager of problems with production personnel and advise when additional training or counselling is needed.
  • Make certain the production facilities are clean and presentable at all times to ensure safe travel and to show a positive company image.
  • Suggest ideas for process improvements including the purchase of equipment or improvements which would increase production throughput and/or efficiency.
  • Ensures quality control processes are followed to ensure customer and USPS requirements are met.
  • Help maintain upkeep of the facility's physical assets and infrastructure, such as buildings, lawn and pond care, equipment, and systems, as a way to ensure they operate effectively, efficiently and safely.
