About the position

The University of Michigan is seeking a part-time LEO Lecturer Intermittent to teach two courses in the 2025-2026 academic year: ENVIRON 360/EAS 560 - Behavior and Environment and ENVIRON 361/EAS 561 - Psychology of Environmental Stewardship. This non-tenure track position is offered for two terms only and aims to provide students with an integrated analysis of environmental and sustainability issues through an interdisciplinary approach. The role emphasizes a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in the educational environment.

Responsibilities

  • Teach ENVIRON 360 and EAS 560 in Fall 2025 and ENVIRON 361 and EAS 561 in Winter 2026.
  • Develop and deliver course content for both undergraduate and graduate students.
  • Hold office hours and manage routine instructional matters.
  • Supervise Graduate Student Instructors for each course.
  • Conduct in-person teaching, as remote instruction is not available.

Requirements

  • Accredited MS degree in an environmental, social science, or equivalent field.
  • Minimum of one year of instructional experience in a college or university setting.
  • Demonstrated commitment to inclusive teaching and diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives.
  • Knowledge of environmental psychology research, particularly human information processing and its application to neighborhood-scale resilience.
  • Familiarity with the A2Zero Carbon Action Plan and related behavior change strategies.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of behavior-environment research methods.
  • Familiarity with literature on mind-body modalities used to promote psychological well-being.
  • Experience with survey design and analysis, including statistical programs like SPSS, STATA, or R.
