The LEO Lecturer I position in the English Department Writing Program (EDWP) at the University of Michigan is a full-time role focused on teaching various writing courses. The lecturer will be responsible for developing course materials, engaging students in academic writing, and fostering a learning environment that emphasizes diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice (DEIJ).

  • Develop and deliver course content for writing courses offered through the EDWP.
  • Create and assess assignments that align with course goals and teaching philosophy.
  • Engage students in discussions and activities that enhance their writing skills.
  • Provide constructive feedback on student writing and assignments.
  • Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to curriculum development.
  • A PhD in English or a closely related field, or an MFA in Creative Writing.
  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching first-year writing courses.
  • Evidence of DEIJ-informed approaches to teaching writing.
  • Experience with hybrid or remote teaching methods.
  • Familiarity with the University of Michigan's academic environment.
  • Participation in a collective bargaining agreement with the Lecturers Employee Organization, AFL-CIO.
