This is a one-year fellowship with clinical and research involvement. The Pediatric Behavioral and Developmental Division at the University of Kansas Medical Center is an interdisciplinary university division with a focus on clinical care, training, community outreach, and research related to autism and other neurodevelopmental disabilities. Under the administrative direction of the MCH Project Director and the clinical direction of the Psychology Discipline Supervisor, the Psychology Postdoctoral Fellow will have the opportunity to be a long-term trainee in the Division's Leadership and Education in Neurodevelopmental Disability (LEND) interdisciplinary training program. Research areas of emphasis include sensorimotor processes and cognitive abilities in autism spectrum disorder (ASD), structural and anatomical brain differences associated with ASD, gender differences in ASD, and social, language, and cognitive development in infants and young children. The fellowship offers a range of clinical experiences, including participation on interdisciplinary diagnostic teams, developmental behavioral therapy clinics, Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT), feeding teams, telemedicine-based evaluation and treatment, social skills groups for girls, craniofacial clinics, developmental disability screenings, applied behavior analysis (ABA), and cleft lip and palate clinics. The program also supports professional development through completion of supervised practice hours and preparation for licensure. Qualified fellows may have opportunities to provide teaching and supervision to graduate student trainees and contribute to the development and implementation of interdisciplinary training activities alongside MCH core faculty.
