About The Position

The Office of State Senator Kathleen Taylor is looking to hire a full-time, limited-duration Legislative Assistant 2 for the 2026 Short Session. This position will begin in early February and run through late March. Senator Taylor represents District 21 covering inner SE Portland, Milwaukie, and Oak Grove. Applicants are not required to live in-district but should have some familiarity with the area and an interest in serving the residents of District 21. Senator Taylor is the chair of the Senate Labor & Business Committee, where she champions workplace protections for all Oregonians. She also serves on the Senate Finance & Revenue Committee, the Senate Natural Resources & Wildfire Committee, and co-chairs the bipartisan Water Caucus. The Legislative Assistant 2’s role will be as a first point of contact for the office, providing general administrative support such as scheduling while performing other duties (writing talking points and floor speeches, constituent & stakeholder outreach, minor casework, research, bill tracking) as necessary. This position will work under supervision of the Senator and will report to and receive direction from senior staff. This position will be in-person at the Oregon State Capitol for the duration of the 2026 Short Session, with the option for hybrid work immediately before and after.
