About The Position

The Legislative Aide to Council President Shannon G. Hardin is responsible for providing comprehensive support to the Councilmember, including legislative analysis, communications, and community affairs. This role involves assisting with various administrative functions of the City Council and engaging with constituents to address their inquiries and concerns. The aide will also coordinate initiatives, prepare legislative documents, and represent the Councilmember in various forums.

Responsibilities

  • Provides extensive support to a Councilmember, including legislative analysis, communications, community affairs and public relations.
  • Provides extensive support to City Council's administrative functions such as human resources, fiscal, and other administrative related activities.
  • Provides constituent services to include handling citizen inquiries, researching information, and assisting with policy development.
  • Serves as a representative of the Councilmember to both internal and external constituencies.
  • Works with individual constituents and special interest groups regarding important issues.
  • Organizes Councilmember's initiatives and coordinates efforts with other City staff.
  • Prepares, monitors, and tracks legislation, reports and correspondence.
  • Prepares issue briefs, memoranda and speeches and assists in the implementation of external communications strategy.
  • Attends meetings, community forums and public hearings and performs other information-gathering duties.
  • Maintains files and records of activities being conducted.
  • May assist in the supervision of other Councilmember staff.
