Core Objectives: Attorney and Staff Assistance. Provide support to attorneys and staff in the Family Law Department. Client Experience. Execute and meet project deadlines to support the client experience in the Family Law Department. Firm Initiatives. Supports Firm initiatives by providing assistance with tasks and projects, as directed by the position’s Supervisor. Typical Tasks: What follows is a sample list of responsibilities in this role.   • Ability to manage multiple projects by self-prioritizing and follow-through

  • Comfortable developing interpersonal relationships with Attorneys and staff members.
  • Must have demonstrated experience with Microsoft Office Suite and be comfortable with technology and able to quickly learn new tools to include SharePoint, Power Point, Adobe, Metro Fax, Caret Legal, and Net Documents and e-discovery platforms.

Nice To Haves

  • Position prefers, but does not require, a bachelor’s degree.
  • Preference will be given to a candidate with experience in a private law firm.

Responsibilities

  • Follow internal processes and procedures and accurately complete file transfers, in collaboration with Supervisor and/or General Counsel, along with other team members.
  • Communicate verbally and in writing with other professionals and/or clients in connection with File Transfers.
  • Follow internal processes and procedures to accurately complete screening of files by utilizing Caret Legal to run conflict checks and enter new contacts in collaboration with Supervisor and/or General Counsel.
  • Follow internal processes and procedures to accurately complete conflict screening related to new client intakes in collaboration with Supervisor and/or General Counsel and other team members.
  • Provide back-up support to Paralegals, including but not limited to, e-filing documents with courts and other legal authorities, opening and closing files, dictation, coordinating meetings and entering time into Caret Legal.
  • Provide back-up support to teams by assisting with the preparation of documents and exhibits for trials and hearings.
  • Provide support to teams by following internal processes to create projects in e-discovery platform.
  • Communicating with clients and other professionals, verbally and in writing, to assist with scheduling meetings.
  • Provide back-up support for Paralegals by taking phones calls and relaying messages.
  • Miscellaneous related tasks/projects as assigned by the Director Legal Support Services & Development or Leadership or Management Team.
  • Support other department staff to ensure that all goals and objectives are met in a timely manner.
  • Enter time into billing system, as appropriate.
  • Participate, when appropriate or necessary, in internal education opportunities, developmental trainings, and department meetings.
