Here’s your chance to gain valuable work experience with an in-house legal department in the health care industry! The Legal Intern will support the Martin’s Point legal team on a variety of projects. This role will work closely with attorneys, compliance staff, and business partners. This internship is designed for an undergraduate student with an interest in law and health care. This internship will begin in late May and the duration of the internship program is 12 weeks. Please note that this is a hybrid working arrangement; some work will be done in our Portland offices and some remotely. Interns must live in Maine throughout the 12-week program. Job Description Employees are expected to work consistently to demonstrate the mission, vision, and core values of the organization. Key Outcomes: Legal Research and Analysis: Conduct in-depth legal research on health care regulations, data privacy and compliance issues, as well as emerging trends. Assist in analyzing and summarizing statutes, case law, and regulatory developments relevant to health law. Provide support to the in-house legal department on projects related to a wide range of topics, including health care, employment, human resources, communications, information technology, and information privacy. Document Drafting and Review: Contribute to the preparation and review of legal documents, contracts, and agreements. Collaborate with our legal team to ensure the accuracy and compliance of legal documents. Corporate Compliance: Assist in developing and implementing strategies to ensure the organization's compliance with federal and state laws and regulations. Collaboration and Networking: Engage with professionals across different departments to gain a holistic understanding of health law in a corporate environment. Attend networking events and seminars to build connections within the legal and broader health care community. Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a two or four-year undergraduate degree program
  • Strong research and analytical skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
  • Interns must live in Maine throughout the 12-week program.
