About The Position

Mastercard is seeking first year law students to participate in our summer legal internship program. Selected candidates will spend the summer with the legal teams that are responsible for providing comprehensive, end-to-end, strategic legal counsel and support to Mastercard's business units and providing cutting edge products and services to Mastercard's customers and cardholders. Mastercard's law department offers an engaging and paid legal summer internship that provides talented, first-year law students from accredited law schools an opportunity to gain exceptional experience, build relationships and exposure across a variety of practice areas. Summer fellows will work under the supervision of attorneys in Mastercard's law department and will benefit from training and feedback on substantive assignments, mentoring and professional development. Mastercard seeks to attract talented, first-year law students from accredited law schools for its summer legal internship program. Successful applicants will have demonstrated superior academic achievement and will have distinguished themselves within their law school and communities. Each candidate will be evaluated individually.

Requirements

  • Must be currently enrolled as a 1st year law student and has completed their first year Before start of the internship, in June 2026
  • Inquisitive, with a positive attitude and willingness to learn; Demonstrated academic achievement and in good academic standing
  • Strong legal research, writing and analytical skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities
  • Excellent interpersonal, team and collaboration skills
  • Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment
  • Have completed your first year of law school
  • Please submit a copy of your resume
  • Undergraduate and law school transcripts (unofficial)
  • A brief personal statement addressing either obstacles you have overcome in pursuit of your legal career or examples of your leadership abilities, and
  • one (1) letter of recommendation
  • Please include and submit all requirement in one combined pdf file no later than, February 15, 2026
  • You must be enrolled in good standing at an ABA accredited law school and be authorized to work in the United States.
