Legal Operations Manager
About The Position
We’re looking for a legal operations rockstar to join our fast-growing legal team and serve as the financial and operational backbone of Verkada’s legal function. This role is primarily focused on legal spend management, budgeting, forecasting, vendor oversight, and financial operations across the entire Legal organization. This includes fiscal year planning, outside counsel legal fees, software, professional services, headcount, travel, and other operating expenses. Secondarily, we are looking for someone with strong operational skills, who is highly organized, analytically strong, and comfortable owning complex, cross-functional workstreams. This role requires that you be on-site at our headquarters in San Mateo, CA and reports in our Legal Operations Senior Manager.
Requirements
- 3–8+ years of experience in legal operations, legal financial management, paralegal work, or a comparable in-house role with ownership of complex workflows.
- Deep experience with budgeting, forecasting, accruals, spend management, vendor oversight, and eBilling platforms
- Strong experience with CLM and and eDiscovery/legal hold tools and processes.
- Proven ability to operate independently, prioritize effectively, and move work forward without detailed instruction – coupled with exceptional attention to detail and follow-through.
- Clear, confident written and verbal communication skills.
- Familiarity with Google Workspace (including advanced use of Google Sheets for tracking, modeling, and reporting), SimpleLegal, MS 365 (specifically Word and Excel), Pigment, Logikcull, Ironclad, DocuSign, Slack, Monday, and the ability to quickly learn and adapt to new tools and systems.
- Comfort operating in a fast-paced, high-growth environment with evolving needs.
Responsibilities
- Own end-to-end management of the entire budget for Verkada’s legal team, including outside counsel, software, professional services, headcount, travel, and other opex.
