About The Position

The Legal Operations Analyst at State Farm plays a crucial role in supporting the Law Department by managing processes, procedures, reporting, analysis, and operational oversight of outside law firms. Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or Professional Experience in a related field (paralegal, finance, accounting, business administration) or 1-3 years of experience in the legal industry with a focus on expense management or legal operations.
  • Strong organization, facilitation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments and drive results with limited direction.
  • Familiarity with legal industry practices, including billing structures and legal contracts.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools (e.g., Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Power BI) for analyzing invoice and hourly rate datasets.
  • Strong understanding of expense tracking and reporting.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills to assess data and provide actionable insights.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to present findings clearly to non-financial stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Law Department Counsel by providing support for processes, procedures, reporting, analysis, and operational oversight of outside law firms.
  • Create and implement operational processes related to the Law Department's planning and day-to-day operations.
  • Collaborate closely with Legal Operations teams to improve processes and help the department meet its goals.
  • Facilitate operational excellence through innovative people, processes, and technology solutions.
  • Coordinate department-wide activities and organize efforts with internal business partners.
  • Assist department leadership with analysis and reporting on various business issues.
  • Perform business and financial analytical, technical, and research activities as needed.
  • Collaborate with the Legal Operations finance team to prepare summaries, reports, and presentations related to retained counsel operations and expenses.
  • Interpret and apply department standards to information requests from internal and external customers.
