About The Position

Planned Systems International (PSI) is an Enterprise IT services company who focuses on designing, building, securing, and operating cutting-edge software solutions that drive mission success and operational excellence for Federal Government organizations. PSI is currently seeking a Legal Intern for Summer 2026. AT PSI, employees support our nation’s most critical programs, including: ARPA-H PARADIGM – PSI has been selected to support ARPA-H’s Platform Accelerating Rural Access to Distributed & InteGrated Medical care (PARADIGM) initiative focused on advancing a hospital-grade mobile healthcare vehicle. C2 Mission Systems (C2MS) – PSI has supported U.S. Air Force Special Operations Command (AFSOC) through work involving the operation, maintenance, and development of specialized command and control mission systems (C2MS). ODOS (USCIS) DevOps – PSI has supported USCIS modernization through DevOps and software delivery services associated with the ODOS program area. The Legal Intern will support PSI’s Legal Department across government contracting, employment law, and corporate transactions. This role is designed for a law student who wants practical experience in an in-house legal department supporting federal and state programs, technology development, and day-to-day corporate legal needs. The intern will work closely with attorneys and cross-functional teams (contracts, HR, finance, operations, and business development). Due to PSI’s work on PARADIGM and the Rural Health Transformation Program, PSI will be expanding quickly into state procurements.

Requirements

  • Current JD candidate (2L, 3L, or recent graduate) in good standing at an ABA-accredited law school.
  • High social IQ and temperament to interact with managers and employees in complex, stressful situations.
  • Strong legal research (including AI prompting) and writing skills
  • Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple assignments with deadlines
  • Professional judgment handling sensitive and confidential information
  • Must be able to maintain strict confidentiality and follow PSI policies regarding sensitive business and customer information.
  • May be required depending on assigned work and customer requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • Interest or coursework in Government Contracts, Labor & Employment, Corporate Transactions.
  • Familiarity with federal procurement concepts (FAR basics, teaming/subcontracting, compliance)

Responsibilities

  • Work on GAO and agency-level protests, request for equitable adjustments and CDA claims, conduct legal research and issue-spotting related to FAR/DFARS, agency supplements, and SBA regulations.
  • Gain understanding and familiarity with state procurements, including uniform best practices and compliance requirements for individual states.
  • Assist with proposal support from a legal perspective (e.g., OCI considerations, past performance documentation, representations/certifications, bid protest awareness support as directed).
  • Draft position statements in response to EEOC complaints. Conduct research on workplace and HR topics (e.g., hiring practices, “revolving door” restrictions, disciplinary actions, ADA leave/accommodation framework, wage/hour basics, contractor vs. employee considerations).
  • Assist with updates to policies, templates, and training materials (handbook provisions, acknowledgments, confidentiality/IP assignment agreements).
  • Support preparation of documentation and summaries for employee relations matters under attorney supervision.
  • Assist with drafting/review of commercial contracts (vendor agreements, SaaS/software licenses, statements of work, purchase orders).
  • Support corporate governance tasks (board minutes, entity management, basic corporate recordkeeping).
  • Help with due diligence support for strategic transactions as needed (document collection, summaries, issue lists, clause comparisons).
  • Perform legal research on data protection, IP basics, and technology contracting concepts relevant to PSI’s work.
