About The Position

Accordion is accepting applications for law student externs for Summer 2026. This opportunity will help law students to learn and understand the power of the legal function within the context of a consulting firm focused on private equity and mergers and acquisitions. This position is unpaid. Legal externs may receive academic credit through their university’s externship program or corporate counsel practicum. Hours and schedule will depend on credit hours sought by students. This would be a hybrid role and students will have the opportunity to work both remotely and from an Accordion office. Accordion is headquartered in New York; however, this role will be based out of our Los Angeles office. Ideal candidates should be local to the desired location. This position is not eligible for immigration sponsorship.

Requirements

  • A current law student at an accredited law school
  • Interested in finance, mergers and acquisitions, private equity, data & analytics, artificial intelligence, management consulting, and in-house legal practice
  • Proficient with MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • A strong communicator: you have the ability to maintain confidence of communications and information
  • Detail-oriented and have strong writing, drafting, research and communication skills
  • Guided by strong moral and ethical principles
  • Extremely well organized with exceptional time management skills
  • Passionate about learning and professional growth: you appreciate and seek feedback and pursue lifelong development and learning
  • Possess a positive attitude and strong work ethic, as well as an interest in contributing to the team
  • Strong professional and positive presence that represents the firm both internally and externally

Responsibilities

  • Research corporate, regulatory, employment, technology, AI, import / export and other quickly developing areas of law
  • Draft legal memoranda and create presentations to inform the Legal & Compliance department on developments in the law, high-impact cases, and other legal news
  • Evaluate, implement and configure legal technologies to help improve efficiency and productivity of the legal function
  • Review, draft, edit, and organize commercial contracts and other legal documents
  • Complete general document reviews and provide summaries
