About The Position

The Legal Counsel will be responsible for legal advice and documentation for Lovisa Americas and other countries as required including: · Drafting and negotiating legal agreements and precedents · Maintenance of legal document registers and trackers (eg contracts registers, intellectual property registers, litigation trackers) · Assisting with managing legal disputes and litigation · Liaising with external lawyers on matters (where applicable) · Keeping informed of legislative changes and legal matters which will affect Lovisa and ensure relevant team members are informed and processes and procedures are implemented to ensure compliance · Providing day to day general legal advice as required

Requirements

  • Current legal practising certificate
  • Approximately 3 – 6 years’ experience in an in-house legal retail environment, preferable with employment and some litigation experience
  • Clear oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Concise and accurate drafting skills
  • Windows and other Microsoft office products – intermediate to advanced level

Responsibilities

  • Assisting with managing legal disputes and litigation
  • Liaising with external lawyers on matters (where applicable)
  • Keeping informed of legislative changes and legal matters which will affect Lovisa and ensure relevant team members are informed and processes and procedures are implemented to ensure compliance
  • Providing day to day general legal advice as required
  • Leases and other documentation are accurate, in accordance with nominated Lovisa parameters and executed within prescribed timeframes.
  • Reports, registers and systems are updated accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Regular reporting to General Counsel and other department heads as required.
  • Legal disputes are managed efficiently and cost-effectively having regard to the nature of the dispute and legal risk.
  • Legal developments in relevant jurisdictions are monitored and communicated to relevant parts of the business.
  • Processes and procedures implemented to ensure legal compliance and minimise legal risk.
  • Other duties and special projects within skill and competency level as required.
