About The Position

This legal counsel role will play a critical part in supporting BJ’s new market expansion and ongoing compliance matters by providing clear, commercially minded, and strategic legal advice to BJ’s business teams. Success in this role requires a team-first attitude, drive, excellent business judgment, strong communication skills, exceptional organizational skills, a strong sense of ownership, and the ability to build strong cross functional relationships. Requirements

J.D. from top-tier law school
Active licensure in at least one jurisdiction (Massachusetts bar admission not required)
1-3 years of AmLaw 100 / in-house experience required
Strong client service focus and team orientation
Excellent attention to detail
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Personal integrity, tact, excellent discretion, and the ability to handle highly confidential information appropriately
Excellent research, analytical, and writing skills
Ability to explain legal issues clearly and concisely

Responsibilities

Research, analyze, and manage complex licensing and other compliance requirements based on business expansion, operations, and footprint
Develop and maintain a resource library to drive shared knowledge and efficiency
Liaise with government officials and outside counsel
Support engagements with BJ’s business teams to understand and drive practical solutions
Work with other attorneys and paralegals to address and support contracting, compliance, litigation, and corporate matters
Negotiate commercial contracts
Perform other duties as assigned or as circumstances warrant
