About The Position

The Legal Counsel position at HL Mando involves providing comprehensive legal support to the business operations in the America Region. The role requires coordination with the Global Legal Center in Korea and entails drafting, reviewing, and negotiating various legal agreements, as well as offering legal advice across multiple areas of law. The position is crucial for ensuring compliance with legal standards and internal policies while managing external legal relationships.

Requirements

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree in the U.S or equivalent degree from non-U.S. foreign law school.
• Qualified to practice law in any state of the U.S.
• At least 2 years' experience in private practice and/or in-house.
• Excellent drafting and verbal/written communication skills in both English and Korean.
• Excellent strategic and analytical skills.
• Demonstrated commercial awareness and the ability to apply legal knowledge and experience within a dynamic commercial environment.
• Able to manage expectations and deadlines and deliver within an appropriate timeframe.
• Able to manage conflicts and stressful situations in an efficient way.
• Able to collaborate efficiently across different teams and departments.
• Solid computer skills (i.e. Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point).

Nice To Haves

• Experience in the automotive industry and/or labor & employment law preferred.

Responsibilities

• Draft, review, and assist in negotiating general and commercial agreements.
• Draft and review documents required for corporate transactions.
• Provide legal advice to the business in relation to commercial law, corporate law, antitrust law, intellectual property law, labor & employment law, immigration law, and product liability issues.
• Manage investigations, litigations, and disputes.
• Manage corporate formality and regulatory reporting work.
• Review and establish internal policies and guidelines based on legal standards and HL Mando Group's guidelines, including conducting internal audits to verify compliance.
• Monitor legislation, regulations, and compliance matters that could impact the business.
• Provide and supervise legal training to internal clients.
• Manage performance, relationship, and budget with external counsel.
• Coordinate with HL Mando Global Legal Team in Korea.
